Rules and Guidelines

* All applications must be postmarked on or before June 1, 2007. The 5 finalists will be announced by July 2, 2007. The winner will be announced at the July 2007 Project Resolution.

*Screenplays will not be considered unless accompanied by a signed entry form and an entry fee. Regular entry fee is $30, and must be paid by check or money order made out to Inkwell Design. Entry fees will not be returned or adjusted. Entry checks which are returned by your bank will incur a $15 fee.

* Revisions and missing pages will not be considered after the screenplay is received, so please be sure you are submitting the correct and complete draft of your work.

* Applicants must send materials via regular mail (which includes UPS, FedEx, etc). The River CIty Write Off is not responsible for lost or stolen materials.

* One screenplay per entry form and entry fee will be accepted. You may submit more than one screenplay, but an entry form and entry fee must be included with each additional screenplay.

* The title page should contain only your script title. Author’s name(s) should not appear anywhere on the screenplay to ensure the anonymity of judging.

* Materials will not be returned under any circumstance. We recommend that you register all of your written material with the Writers Guild of America.

* If a collaborative work is submitted, the writers must designate one writer as the primary contact on the entry form.

* All ages are eligible, but writer must own all chain of title rights on submitted works. Screenplays must be the original work of the applicant(s). If based upon another's life experience, applicant(s) must attach a statement attesting to their rights to make such adaptations.

* All entries must be in English and standard U.S. screenplay format.

* If selected as a Finalist, screenwriter agrees to allow staged reading of screenplay by Yellow House during the judging process.

* Please keep in mind that the winning script will be one that the judges feel can be produced in accordance with said budget and in the general Richmond metro area. Scripts which hinge on complex action sequences, exotic locales, or guest appearances by U2 are therefore less likely to win.

* In order to receive a notification letter at the close of judging, please include with the application a self addressed stamped envelope.

* Judging will be anonymous. That is, your entry form(s) and screenplay(s) will be assigned corresponding numbers, and your screenplay(s) will be identifiable to the judges by number only. Judges' decisions are final.

* Volunteers and staff of Studio 108, Mark Joy Films, and Inkwell Design LLC and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.
