Part 2: Awards

Grand Prize: The writer of the winning screenplay will be offered an option
on the script by a sponsoring production company at $4,500.00 for one year.

Finalists: All five finalists will receive $150, script coverage, have their
entry fee waived for the next River City Write Off, and other gifts from our
sponsors.
Part 3: Rules and Guidelines∑ All applications must be postmarked on
or before June 1, 2007. The 5 finalists will be announced by July 2, 2007.
The winner will be announced ay July 28, 2007.

Screenplays will not be considered unless accompanied by a signed entry form
and an entry fee. Entry fee is $30 U.S. for the regular deadline of May 16,
and $35 U.S. for the late deadline of June 1. Entry fees must be paid by check
or money order made out to Inkwell Design LLC. Entry fees will not be returned
or adjusted. Entry checks which are returned by your bank will incur a $15
fee.

Revisions and missing pages will not be considered after the screenplay is
received, so please be sure you are submitting the correct and complete draft
of your work.

Applicants must send materials via regular mail (which includes UPS, FedEx,
etc). The River City Write Off is not responsible for lost or stolen materials.

One screenplay per entry form and entry fee will be accepted. You may submit
more than one screenplay, but an entry form and entry fee must be included
with each additional screenplay.
∑
The title page should contain only your script title. Author’s name(s)
should not appear anywhere on the screenplay to ensure the anonymity of judging.
∑
Materials will not be returned under any circumstance. We recommend that you
register all of your written material with the Writers Guild of America.
∑
If a collaborative work is submitted, the writers must designate one writer
as the primary contact on the entry form.
∑
Writer must be 18 or older to be eligible. Written must own chain of title
for screenplay in order to qualify for grand prize—we can’t option
your script if someone else already owns it. Screenplays must be the original
work of the applicant(s). If based upon another's life experience, applicant(s)
must attach a statement attesting to their rights to make such adaptations.

All entries must be in English and standard U.S. screenplay format and length.
Feature screenplays are generally between 90 and 130 pages.

Please include a synopsis of the screenplay along with the entry.
∑
The River City Write Off is dedicated to giving writers the best possible chance
at a produced film. Please keep in mind that the winning script will be one
that the judges feel can be produced in accordance with a sub-twenty million
dollar budget and in the general Richmond metro area. Scripts which hinge on
complex sci-fi action sequences, multiple exotic locales, or guest appearances
by U2 are therefore less likely to win.

In order to receive a notification letter at the close of judging, please include
with your application a self addressed stamped envelope.

Screenplays will be judged by a panel of experienced film professionals. Judging
will be anonymous-- that is, your entry form(s) and screenplay(s) will be assigned
corresponding numbers, and your screenplay(s) will be identifiable to the judges
by number only. Judges' decisions are final.

Volunteers and staff of Inkwell Design, Studio 108 Films, and Mark Joy Productions
